Depositing clothes in River Pamba is not a ritual. Also, disposal of clothes in the river is banned as per the decision of Kerala High Court. Requesting pilgrims not to throw clothes in Pamba
Green Guards at Pamba inaugurated by Hon. Home Minister, Hon. Revenue Minister and Hon. Devoswom Minister in the presence of Devoswom Board President and Members. 20 green guards, appointed by Suchitwa Mission are working 24 x 7 to campaign against throwing of cloths in River pamba.
A project to provide awareness to pilgrims to reduce use of plastic during pilgrimage. Further, the project envisages to educate all to stop throwing cloths at Pamba river. With a broad vision to ensure responsible pilgrimage, and to make Sabarimala GREEN and clean, activities like segregation of waste at source, campaign to throw waste only to bins etc will be part of the project.
Deployment of ecoguards (with Forest Department), Plastic Exchange Counter at Pamba (association with Federal Bank), Signature campaign at Pamba (with NSS volunters), Road campaign at Laha and Kanamala (With Kudumbasree, Forest Department, and Suchitwa Mission ), 'Save Pamba' campaign (with Higher Secondary School 'souhrida club' students) have started today, Campaign through social media (facebook), Also, 200 new bins to segregate waste have been placed (with the support of 'maaza')
